This piece deals with the insane road and traffic planning to be found in Salerno (as just one example of an Italian city). There is the ingenious fly-over system at Fratte; a particular set of traffic lights in Cava brilliantly designed to kill pedestrians; and the many autostrada entrances that make it impossible to enter the autostrada without becoming religious all of a sudden. This is not even to begin to mention the somewhat perplexing desire of the Italian male for an instant death whilst driving at 140 Km/h just centimeters behind the car infront – who also happens to be driving just centimetres behind the car in front of him…
